The Kiosk app is being deprecated in December 2023 but kiosk mode is now available in the Teamworks AMS app instead. Read on to find out how to enable kiosk mode in the app.
With kiosk mode, users can quickly and easily use a shared device to record non-sensitive data, like gym attendance, training availability or session details through the AMS app. To successfully use kiosk mode, you need to make certain preparations within your AMS site:
- Configure the user account with the necessary permissions.
- Enable kiosk mode and select which event forms should be available.
- (Optional) Set the number of expected entries.
For more information on how to enter data in kiosk mode, see the "Mobile app" section of our article on entering new event data.
Configure the user account with the necessary permissions
To use kiosk mode on the AMS app, you first need to ensure that the account being used is a coach of any groups of people that will need to use the kiosk to enter data. The user’s role must contain the relevant Write data permission for each event form that should be entered.
Enable and configure Kiosk mode on the mobile app
You can enable and manage kiosk mode in the app Settings by selecting Kiosk.
Here, you can Enable kiosk mode and choose which event forms are shown in kiosk mode. Users will only be able to enter data into forms that have been enabled here.
It is not advised to include forms that collect or contain sensitive information in kiosk mode since people can enter data for any user in the group.
After enabling kiosk mode in the app, you will no longer be able to view existing data in the app - this includes Recent activities (for non-professional users), Reports (for professional users) and Dashboards. You can change groups from the home screen but the user whose account is being used for kiosk mode must enter their PIN.
To disable kiosk mode and return the app to its previous state, go to Settings > Kiosk and disable kiosk mode. You will need to enter your account PIN to access the kiosk settings.
Set the number of expected entries
If users are expected to enter a certain number of entries for an event form, you can configure this number after enabling the form for kiosk mode. By default, an Unlimited number of records is permitted; you can change this by tapping Unlimited to set expected entries. First, set the frequency (day/week/month), then select the number of records expected per athlete.
In the example below, the Daily Diary event form is enabled for kiosk mode. Each athlete is expected to enter one record per day.
Customized expected entries are specific to a device, not to the form as a whole. Any users who want to set expected entries for a form must do so on each device they use.
Setting expected entries does not limit the number of records a user can enter. If they have already met the requirements, they can still enter subsequent records.
