Available on the mobile app and Athlete app.
You can continue to use the mobile app without a network connection if you have already downloaded event forms for offline use. Enter new event records using the Add data button or favorite events on the app homepage. You cannot edit or view records that were entered while online. This means that some features, such as embedded reports and linked calculations, are not available in offline mode. You can create new embedded event records while offline, but you cannot link existing records until your network connection is restored.
If an event form you’ve downloaded contains a Database field, all database records within that form are cached to your device so that you can use the field while offline. Following this, the cache is updated (if applicable) each time you log into the app while online. If the event form has not been downloaded to your device and you lose network connection during data entry, only database records that are selected or expanded are cached so you can complete the record.
In the example above, the first three database records were selected or expanded when the network connection was lost therefore they are still able to be selected while offline. The other database records are greyed out, indicating that they cannot be selected.
Syncing records that were entered offline
When you enter a new record while offline using the mobile or Athlete app, any saved records will be stored locally on your device until your network connection is reinstated. You can view and edit records any records entered in the last 24 hours by going to Settings > Offline use > View uploads. On the Athlete app, you can also find these records in the My data view.
Within the Offline use settings, the sync status of any records entered while offline is shown under View uploads. Pending records will be automatically synced to the server in the background when a network connection for your mobile device is re-established, the app is open in the foreground, and you're logged into your account. Records are removed from the uploads queue 24 hours after being synced to AMS.
If you see an error message in the uploads queue, this may indicate that the form has been updated since the record was created (e.g. new fields have been added). Tap the queued record to either try resyncing it or to delete it.
If you no longer have access to the form, any queued records will be deleted from the list.
