The Oura Ring tracks key signals from your body while you sleep, delivering daily insights into the quantity and quality of your sleep. As sleep is critical to recovery, it is a cornerstone of driving performance and health. Gathering accurate sleep information will be important for both individuals and organizations to understand someone’s readiness to perform.
You can connect your Oura Ring through an API to automatically pull sleep and readiness data into your Teamworks AMS site. Within AMS this data can be combined with the various other performance metrics being measured for a more holistic view of readiness to perform. This information can then be utilized by high performance staff to assist in decision-making that could reduce risk and optimize performance.
A new version (V2) of the connector is now available. This version offers a wider scope of data and introduces additional metrics such as daytime and workout heart rate, workouts, tags, and sessions, as well as more defined sleep types. If the Oura V1 connector was previously set up for your site, your Product Success Manager will reach out to your organization to switch to the Oura V2 connector. After switching to the latest connector, athletes will need to reauthorize their account for Oura V2.
Setting up your AMS site to integrate with Oura Ring
What we will do
- Universally unique identifications (UUIDs) must be enabled for your AMS site. This is a setting in your site's application details, which can only be changed by a SuperAdmin or the site owner.
- We will add the following event forms and profile forms to your site. The event forms will connect with and store all data from Oura Ring. Note that the profile forms need to be enabled for the mobile app in the builder interface. You can work with your Product Success Manager to ensure the appropriate roles have access to view this information, as well as any dashboards set up to visualize the data.
- Oura Activity Summary V2 event form
- Oura Readiness and Sleep Summary V2 event form
- Oura Tag Summary V2 event form
- Authorise Oura V2 Data profile form
- Oura V2 Refresh Token profile form
- Oura V2 Current Refresh Token profile form
The Authorise Oura V2 Data profile form is only required if people are going to use AMS through a web browser to authorize linking their accounts. If using the AMS mobile app, this profile form is not required.
If using the AMS mobile app to authorize, the three event forms and the Oura V2 Refresh Token profile form must be available on mobile and athletes need Write access to them through their role.
The Oura V2 Current Refresh Token profile form is only required if switching from V1 to V2. Athletes do not require access to the form via the mobile app.
Please speak to your Product Success Manager before adding any new fields to the above event forms as it may have unintended consequences.
Once connected, AMS will synchronize Oura data every 15 minutes.
When Oura summary data syncs into the Oura Readiness and Sleep Summary V2 form each day, the date of the record will be for the previous day. This means the sleep value recorded against a particular day (e.g. Monday) is for the evening of that day of the week (e.g. Monday night).
How are people’s accounts mapped between Oura Ring and AMS?
Each person has to authorize Teamworks to access their Oura Ring data via AMS on the web or mobile app. Note that this process must only be completed after the connector setup is fully completed.
Mobile app
Web
- Log into the AMS mobile app using your account credentials. Ensure the latest version of the app is loaded.
- Follow the prompts to set up Connected apps and select Oura Ring. If this step is skipped, you can do it later by navigating to the app Settings > Connected apps > Oura Ring.
- Select Set up Oura Ring. This will redirect you to a separate web page within the app where you can enter your Oura account credentials.
Once this process is completed, your AMS account will be authorized to connect to your Oura data. No further mapping is required.
To revoke access to the Oura account, go to the app Settings > Connected apps > Oura Ring and use the toggle to disable the connection.
If you have previously authorized Oura V1 and now want to authorize V2, you will need to disable the existing Oura connection through the app Settings, then re-enable the connection by following the authorization steps above.
To authorize your Oura account using a web browser, an authorization button must be specifically configured on the AMS site. If this is required for your organization, please contact Teamworks support.
