The Video repositories tool is used to manage external video content in Teamworks AMS. External videos can be stored outside of AMS using an Amazon S3 bucket and can then be linked to AMS using a video repository. Using an external storage option allows large amounts of video data to be stored securely and viewed more efficiently than if stored using the Resources tool.
Event forms can be connected to a video repository using the External video field, which allows people to upload a video into the repository (using AMS on the web or the Video Uploader). Once the event form is saved with the video file’s unique identifier and name, the video can be viewed within the record.
To edit a video repository, search for and select it from the list. Alternatively, hover over the video repository to reveal more options and select Edit or Delete.
Setting up a video repository
An Amazon S3 bucket must be set up before creating the video repository. After setting up the S3 bucket, it can be linked to a new video repository to provide people with access to external videos stored in the bucket. Multiple video repositories can be set up to link to different S3 buckets.
When setting up a video repository, you must enter a Name, Bucket, Access key and Secret key. The name of the repository should be meaningful as this is displayed in the External video field that people interact with using AMS on a web browser. The Bucket field is the name of the bucket on S3 and must be an exact match for the repository to work. Each repository must have the correct Access key and Secret key for the bucket in S3.
Note that self-hosted clients who connect via a proxy will need to tick the Use proxy checkbox and complete the relevant details. Clients who are hosted on Amazon will not need to use the proxy setting.
Enterprise configurations
If your AMS site exists on an enterprise server and the appropriate sharing configurations exist, video repositories can be linked to other sites.
Use the Link to function to link video repositories created on the site to another site on the same server. To use this function, the following criteria must be met:
- The server must be configured as an enterprise instance.
- The sharing of video repositories from the current site to another site must be enabled in the Shared sites administration tool.
Video repositories that are linked from one site to another can only be edited on the site where it was created. If accessed from the linked site, none of the management functions will be visible.
