Each person who uses Teamworks AMS needs to have a user account for their organization's AMS site. This includes people who need to enter data about themselves or other people and those who want to view data within AMS. You need to log into AMS to enter or view data.
Your organization's AMS administrator is responsible for making sure that you've got the right information to log into AMS - that is, the site URL and the username for your user account. If you aren't sure what these details are, please reach out to your organization.
The URL for accessing the main interface (also referred to as the site location) usually follows this format:
servername.smartabase.com/sitename
You'll also need to know your password. If you aren't sure what your password is, you can reset it.
You should not share your login credentials (username, password or PIN) with anyone. If you believe someone has access to your credentials, we recommend that you reset your password immediately.
You can access AMS via a web browser or the mobile application (AMS app).
If your AMS site is on an enterprise server and you have access to different sites on the server (e.g., https://learn.smartabase.com/teach and https://learn.smartabase.com/train), you may be able to log into each site with the same credentials. You’ll need to adjust the URL when logging in, or you may be able to switch sites once you’re logged in.

People often use AMS with their web browser, which provides the most functionality for entering and viewing data, producing reports and other common tasks. AMS works best in either Chrome or Firefox.
Log in with your AMS account
You will need to know your organization's AMS site URL and the username or email address associated with your account. If you don't know these details, please contact your organization.
- Load your AMS site URL (for example, learn.smartabase.com/mysite) in the web browser.
- On the login page, enter your AMS username or email address then select Next.
- Enter your AMS Password. If you are unsure what your password is, you can reset it.
- Read and agree to the Teamworks terms and conditions. You must agree to any available terms before you can log into the app.
- Select Login to proceed.
Log in with Single Sign On (SSO)
If your organization has single sign on (SSO) enabled on your AMS site, a button will appear on the login page allowing you to Login with your single sign-on provider.
Select the SSO login button and interact with your SSO provider to log into AMS, accepting any terms and conditions as required.
Log into AMS in another language
If you're using AMS in another language (language preferences are set in your user account), you might also want to view the login screen in that language. To change the language of the login screen, we suggest that you use your browser to create a bookmark for your AMS site location, then use the ?locale=
suffix with the language code you want.
learn.smartabase.com/example/?locale=fr
In the example above, we've used the language code for French. This tells AMS to load the French language version of the login screen. You can use the language code for any supported language. We've provided a list below and will update this as new languages are added to AMS.
Code | Language (English) | Language (local) |
---|---|---|
en | English | English |
fr | French | Français |
ar | Arabic | العربية |
de | German | Deutsch |
nl | Dutch | Nederlands |
ru | Russian | Русский |
he | Hebrew | עברית |
ja | Japanese | 日本語 |
zh | Mandarin | 中文 |
es | Spanish | Español |

From here, you can continue to sign in with that account. This may be useful if you work across multiple AMS sites or accounts. Any credentials that you’ve used to log into an AMS account and chosen to remember will be saved to your device so that you can easily sign back into the account later.
To switch to a different account or to log in with a new account, select Use another account .
After logging in for the first time, you'll be prompted to set a PIN or biometric login for this device to make logging into the app faster next time. If you choose to skip this step, you will also be able to set it up once logged in by going to Settings > Security > Quick login.

We're replacing the Kiosk app with the AMS app and, as a consequence, support will be discontinued as of December 2023. To continue to use the kiosk service, please download the AMS mobile app and migrate this site set-up.
Log in when offline
If you anticipate using the mobile app without an internet connection or with an unreliable internet connection, you can configure the app in advance to support Offline use. This will allow you to enter data into forms regardless of whether you have a network connection. Records you enter while offline will be automatically synced to AMS when your internet connection is reinstated, the app is open in the foreground and you're logged into your account.
In order to use the mobile app when offline, you first need to complete two tasks:
- Log into the mobile app at least once from your mobile device while online.
- Download any forms that you regularly use, or might expect to use when offline.
Logging in while online will allow your credentials (including PIN and biometric data, if set) to be stored in your device's keychain. If you lose your network connection at a later date, you'll be able to open the app and log in with the credentials stored in the keychain.
If you usually log in with a PIN but forget the code while offline, you will need to wait until your network connection is restored as you will not be able to use your password as an alternative option.
For instructions on how to download event forms to your mobile device for offline use, refer to our article on configuring the app for offline use.
You will then be able to log into the app using your password, PIN or biometric login when you do not have an internet connection. If this is not the case, you will need to wait until you have an internet connection to be able to log into the app.
Your connection status is indicated by a banner in the app. In the screenshot below, an orange banner indicates that the app is offline. When the network connection is restored, a green banner will be displayed to indicate that the app is online. The online banner disappears a few seconds after the network connection is restored.
Some features are not available while offline:
- The ability to edit your account settings.
- Privacy policies.
- Links to the Help Center.
- Dashboards.
- Entries that were created while online.
These features will be greyed out and a notification message will be shown if applicable.
Log in using a magic link
You can also log into AMS without filling in your site URL or username with a magic link. A magic link is sent to you via email. When you follow the link, you’ll be prompted to create a new password in order to log in. If you tap on the link using a mobile device that doesn’t have an AMS mobile app installed, you’ll be redirected to a website with a link to the appropriate app store for the device.
The link will expire one hour after you receive it. Each magic link can only be used once.
Additional steps to logging in
Once you have logged into AMS with your credentials, you may receive some additional prompts regarding:
- Multi-factor authentication
- Additional terms of use
- Setting a PIN or biometric login (mobile apps only)
- Connected apps (mobile apps only)
Once logged in, check out our articles on using AMS for more information on managing your account, entering data, creating reports and more.
If you or anyone else makes more than five failed attempts to log in to your account, AMS will remove the ability to log in for 10 minutes. This is to help prevent unauthorized access to an AMS site. If there are further failed attempts to log in to your account, your account will be deactivated. You will need to contact your organization's AMS administrator to reactivate your account.
